Small Business Registration FAQs

How do I determine if there is a business opportunity for my company?

  • UC San Diego encourages you to begin the registration process by visiting The University of California  Public Bid Site. The University of California  Public Bid Site is a single-point portal where suppliers can register and manage company information, review and participate in UC San Diego-specific and UC System-wide solicitations, and stay up-to-date with current UC Procurement services, events, and news.
  • This electronic process provides a more efficient and effective way of doing business for both the University and the supplier.  Please note that you do not need to register as a supplier to view public events which are available under the "Bid Opportunities" link. However, registration is required to participate in an event (i.e.: bid on an RFx).

All questions related to specific RFx events should be directed to the RFx administrator or contact identified in the event listing in the University of California Public Bid Site. This is how you make the critical first step to successfully participating in the University's procurement process.

How do I become a UC San Diego Supplier?

Suppliers must complete the steps above to be considered for "opportunities" at UC San Diego. The information supplied will be used to determine whether your product or service is needed by the University.

If someone on campus would like to do business with your company they will issue an online, secure form that encrypts any sensitive information. The form requests information about where to email a copy of the purchase order and where to mail checks. It also contains an optional section for suppliers to identify themselves as small and/or diverse business.

General items needed for the registration process include:

How can I be considered to be a supplier for Federal Contract purchases?

To be part of our contract-approved supplier list, you must be registered with SAM. Additionally, it is imperative that all certifications be current.

Businesses must be certified in order for the University to get credit for using them under federal contracts. SBA certification is free of charge.
