Goals and Services
The Small Business Development Office Offers Services in Support of UC-Wide Diverse Supplier Goals and Federal Goals for Small Business Procurement
The University of California has a goal to procure 25% Economically and Socially Responsible Spend, regardless of source of funds, from Diverse Suppliers. Additionally, the federal government has the following statutory goals for small business procurement:

- 23% of prime contracts for small businesses
- 5% of prime and subcontracts for women-owned small businesses
- 5% of prime and subcontracts for small disadvantaged businesses
- 3% of prime and subcontracts for service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses
- 3% of prime subcontracts for HUBZone small businesses
The Small Business Development Office has many service offerings to help reach these goals.
Supplier Diversity Services
- Pre-qualifies, sources, and provides Diverse Suppliers training
- Improves accessibility to and awareness of Diverse Suppliers throughout UC San Diego
- Provides orientation to Diverse Suppliers on how to do business with UC San Diego
Services for Federal Contracts > $750,000
- Develops government subcontract plans in compliance with the Federal Acquisition and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations
- Prepares "Good Faith Effort" Diverse Supplier usage proposals
- Submits Diverse Supplier compliance reports to applicable governmental agencies
